The CWI Best Thesis in Applied Math Award is awarded annually for BSc and MSc theses that use mathematics to find innovative solutions for companies, government agencies or non-educational institutes. With this award, Math4NL draws attention to the value of mathematics for society.
The 2025 edition will take place on October 30, 13.30-17.00 in the Turingzaal at the Centrum Wiskunde Nederland, in Amsterdam. It is is sponsored by

The three finalists for the MSc prize are

Hennes Vermeer (TUD/KPMG): Valuation of Inflation-Indexed Derivatives Using Path-Dependent Simulation.

Daniel Cortild (RUG/EDF): Global Optimization Algorithm through High Resolution Sampling.

Lieke van der Linden (TUD/VORtech): Model Order Reduction on the Differential Algebraic Equations for Conveyor Belt Systems.
The three finalists for the BSc prize are:

Bart de Beus (HvA / Waternet): Schatten van wateroverlast.

Rick Scheper (NHL Stenden / UMCG): A Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic Model of Nadroparin.

Kumar Sardjoe (HvA / Beyond Sports): Highlight detection from NHL tracking data.
